The DSE Mini Games is a multi-sports competition which introduces children aged six to twelve to friendly competition. This event welcomes up to 150 competitors representing schools, clubs and individuals from across the country. During the weekend children are introduced to adapted / inclusive sports and games with the focus on developing a competitive element to grassroots disability sport.
The event has been running for 25yrs and has been the starting block for many successful disabled athletes. It is seen as a stepping stone to the DSE Junior events programme and provides a link to the competitive pathway for National Governing bodies such as British Swimming and Boccia England.
Next year we will be running 2 Mini Games events, one in the 'North' at Leigh Sports Village and the other in the 'South' at Stoke Mandeville Stadium, the dates of both events are yet to be confirmed but entry packs will be available shortly after xmas.
Both of these events will encompass 'taster' sessions for adaptive sports with the aim of introducing competitors to sports and games that they may not yet have had a chance to play. They will also compete in a number of sports which they may already take part in regularly such as athletics, boccia and swimming.
Entry forms for these events will be available to download from the DSE web-site with the closing date for entries being mid April.
