PETER SHILTON OBE CHARITY GOLF CLASSIC 2005

FOREST OF ARDEN RAISING MONEY FOR DISABILITY SPORT ENGLAND
SUPPORTED BY NAUTILUS The annual fundraiser was held on Monday at the Championship Arden course. Hosted by England's most renowned goalkeeper, Peter Shilton, the day raised £10,000 for Disability Sport England. Seventeen teams took part in the charity event and despite the rain at the start of play, the weather soon brightened up and allowed the players to enjoy the course. Celebrities taking part with Peter, included Ray Clemence, Danny Mills, Willie Thorne, Clive Tyldesley and Dave Busst. Following the golf, all enjoyed an evening of entertainment with the Comedian, Sid Dennis, keeping the guests laughing. Willie Thorne raised the bids as our special guest auctioneer. The highlight of the auction was kindly donated by The Royal Group- a trip on an 89ft yacht in Puerto Banus for up to 6 people, with a full crew and all catering. There was strong competition to win the once-in-a-lifetime cruise. Peter Shilton was pleased to congratulate his own wife, Sue, as the Female Player of the Tournament and Sam, his son as the Nearest the Pin winner! Winning team Barrett and Clark were overwhelmed with their efforts and aim to send the exact team to defend their title in 2006. The DSE team came second and Sue Shilton's Ladies team were pleased to collect third. Bob Rennie won the Male Player of the Tournament. Sponsors Nautilus had a fantastic day, although did not come away with any prizes. They have supported the golf day for five years and adopted Disability Sport England as their official charity. Gordon Neale OBE, CEO of Disability Sport England, said of the achievements:-
"DSE is always pleased to bring corporate clients and friends together to highlight our work. Our events are paramount to achieving success in a variety of sports. This golf day has become a fixed date in our fundraising calendar and this year was another great success. Raising thousands of pounds for DSE will go a long way in reaching our goals.
